Every Day by David Levithan

The book Every Day by David Levithan follows Rhiannon, a normal adolescent girl, and A, a person who wakes up in a different body every morning. A normally attempts to respect their hosts’ lives and help them with their day-to-day tasks; but, they fall in love with Rhiannon at first sight and can’t seem to get enough of her companionship. A begins to take greater risks to be with Rhiannon, but they are unable to be together due to two big concerns. One is that A wakes up every day as a different person, in a different area, with a different appearance. The other issue is that Rhiannon continues to cling to her failed relationship with her boyfriend, Justin, who also happens to be the one who introduced A and Rhiannon. This book is more of a romance novel that follows a relationship and the struggles or concerns that follow it. The most common patterns in this book are complicated romance, selfishness, obsessions, damaging people, and evil characteristics.

Frostblood by Elly Blake

The novel, Frostblood by Elly Blake takes place in an environment full of hate. The cruel Frostblood leader has been torturing and killing most of the Firebloods. He even kept some and made them fight for their lives against strong and healthy Frostbloods while the Firebloods were weak and malnourished. Ruby is a seventeen year old girl who is a Fireblood. She has concealed her powers most of her life in fear of getting caught.. Ruby wants to practice her powers and control them so she can keep her mother and herself safe. One day, Ruby sneaks out of their little hut to the forests so she can practice her powers. Instead, she sees soldiers coming. Her mother tries to stop the soldiers from taking Ruby away, but is useless and Ruby is sent to a prison. While she is in prison two men, Arcus and Brother Thistle, both Frostbloods. offer her freedom if she completes a task, and she agrees. The men take her to the abbey, where she receives treatment and learns how to control her powers with a Frostblood master as there are no Fireblood masters left. Once she is trained and it is almost time to leave, the abbey is compromised and she is taken to the castle to prove her worth as a fighter in the arena against Frostbloods.

I really enjoyed this magical book. I loved the romance and the action parts with the fantasy; this has to be my favorite combination. Even during the most difficult moments of the book, there was always some sort of hope. Then again there are moments in the book with some steamy scenes. It’s so cute and light at the end, which was needed because a lot of devastation did happen throughout the book.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is easily one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read. I’ve always loved the found-family trope in fantasy novels like this, and the family the main character Kaz and his crew find really make the book. The writing style is beautiful, and matches the mood of the plot quite well. Usually, switching between multiple points of view can be quite confusing, but Bardugo was able to use it to her advantage. I love every single character that Bardugo created in this heist, and can’t wait to read about them more in the second novel. Overall, this book gets 5 stars from me, and I recommend it to those who enjoy fast-paced books with lots of action.
